I am directed to inform you that this Government desires to introduce legislation as to the standard of spirit- uoue liquors and that it has been suggested by the Government Analyst that advice on the subject should be obtained from Dr. T.E. Thorpe, C.B., F.F.S., Principal of the Government Labora- tories in England. I am, therefore, to request you to be good enough to approach Dr. Thorpe on the subject and in order to assist him in arriving at a decision if he consents to give this Government the benefit of his advice I enclose a copy of a

minute by the Government Analyst dated the 27th of last April together with copies of the Liquor Laws in force in the Colony.
